IBM's Worklight, an "open, comprehensive mobile application platform for smartphones and tablets," is winning converts in the developer world because "the development environment is not built on the premise of code generators or transcoders ... developers retain full and direct control over the source code of the application," Darryl Taft writes. Since its acquisition in 2012, the platform has become "a key piece of IBM's mobility strategy, offering an open platform that helps speed the delivery of existing and new mobile applications to multiple devices," Taft writes.
