Full vaccination for the flu was tied to a 74% lower risk of intensive care unit admission for flu-related illnesses among pediatric patients during the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 flu seasons, a case-control study showed. However, researchers noted low vaccine coverage, even in children diagnosed with other conditions that put them at greater risk for severe complications related to flu. The findings were presented at the IDWeek meeting.
