The Obama administration should consider including the Atlantic Coast in future offshore energy lease sales, as it prepares to draft the lease program for 2017 to 2022, industry officials said. Under the current schedule, energy producers carry out seismic surveys of an area before authorities make leasing decisions, but such an approach for the 2017-2022 period could affect Atlantic sales, the industry said. "Let's continue to allow opportunities and provide opportunities to at least explore and see what's actually out there," said Erik Milito, the American Petroleum Institute's upstream director.
