Kroger is expanding its "shop local" campaign to more than 2,400 stores throughout the country. A popular local craft brew, Wiedemann’s Special Lager, will be stocked at stores throughout the Cincinnati and northern Kentucky area this month; shoppers in Denver can purchase Noosa yogurt at subsidiary King Soopers; Kenny's Key Lime Pie is sold in Atlanta Kroger stores; and Dave's Killer Bread is available in Portland-area Fred Meyer and QFC stores. Local product sales help boost the grocer's competition with other national chains and nontraditional stores, such as Wal-Mart, says Telsey Advisory Group Analyst Joe Feldman.
