The results of two years of exams aligned with the Common Core State Standards have produced a short "trend line" of data in Kentucky, the first state to release scores under the standards. Students posted gains in several areas, such as reading proficiency among middle- and high-school students, but remained stable or dropped in other areas. State Education Commissioner Terry Holliday said it would likely take several years for students to "catch up" with the standards.
