The last building of the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles is up -- the culmination of 30 years' worth of planning and design by Moshe Safdie. The 15-acre complex of concrete buildings is the $99 million transformation of a former garbage dump. The complex features concrete buildings with "a muted palette -- bands of grey concrete alternate with those of pink Tadoussac granite -- and glittering, stainless steel roofs," writes Carren Jao.
