Health IT executives should lead the way in using available technology to drive real transformation in care delivery, former National HIT Coordinator Dr. Farzad Mostashari said during the 2013 CHIME Fall CIO Forum being held this week in Scottsdale, Ariz. During a question-and-answer session with CHIME CEO Russell Branzell, Mostashari explained that a timetable change for stage 2 meaningful use would be difficult to implement and urged HIT leaders to look into certain hardship exceptions for failure to meet the deadlines rather than pushing for timetable relaxations to resolve industry concerns.
