NASA's Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer has settled into orbit, getting ready to study gases and electrically charged dust surrounding the moon. The mission is moving forward despite the federal government shutdown, which forced NASA to furlough 97% of its employees. Among those still working are the probe's flight controllers, who will tweak its orbit over the next two weeks to put it in position for its studies.
