Students at a nature- and farm-based preschool in Lincoln, Mass., are learning about math, science and language through interactions with chickens, eggs and butterflies, among other things. Students in the program have access to a 232-acre farm where they study the life cycle of butterflies and use their math skills to calculate how far they can travel. "We specifically try to focus on science-related, math-related, and language-related activities in the context of the natural world," said Paula Goodwin, director of the school.
