Beachwood, Ohio, is building a fiber optic wireless system to work with the upgraded mobile data terminals in its police vehicles so 9-1-1 dispatchers can watch in real time as officers leave their patrol cars and interact with people. Police will also begin wearing cameras on their bodies to record video when they are away from their cars. "This technology makes our officers safer, makes the city safer and makes the entire system more efficient," Police Chief Mark Sechrist said.
