Students enrolled at Reynoldsburg High School's eSTEM Academy in Ohio are able to let their imaginations run wild in fabrication laboratories equipped with 3D printers and other technology -- building everything from a computer desk to a medieval catapult using computer-assisted design. Educators say the "fab lab" helps students apply academic lessons at a deeper level. "These kids are doing projects within social studies and science ... that are related to the curriculum," said Thomie Timmons, a visual-arts teacher who runs the school's lab.
