American Airlines and Cathay Pacific have new lounges at Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. The lounges, each with showers and free Wi-Fi, are found in the connection between Terminal 2A and 2C.
Travelers can partake in Oktoberfest festivities at four U.S. airports with Lufthansa lounges, including Detroit and New York. The German carrier is celebrating the holiday with Oktoberfest treats. Meanwhile, a pop-up beer garden at Denver International Airport offers samples of beer for $10 and includes a souvenir glass.
As more fliers choose to travel with hand luggage, baggage designers are rethinking product design. "With an onboard allowance of only [15.4 pounds] or so, staying organized and light is very important," said Catherine Manuell. "We create extra bags that can sit on top of the main luggage for ease of movement; they are reasonably light, have multiple sections and can still fit under an economy seat."
Airspace Lounge plans to open a lounge at John F. Kennedy airport in New York in May. The lounge will offer amenities to passengers on any carrier for a daily fee. "In this environment, it's not easy for airlines to build lounges like they used to," said Anthony Tangorra, president of Airspace Lounge.
Lufthansa German Airlines' new Senator lounge at Frankfurt International Airport boasts 23,000 square feet of space. It's just one of five new lounges at the airport: two Senator lounges, two Business lounges and one First Class lounge.
Cathay Pacific's business-class lounge may be the smallest of the three oneworld lounges at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 3, but it's the favorite stop for this reviewer. "Cathay's lounge is my personal favorite of the three oneworld lounges in Heathrow's Terminal 3. It's less hectic, has more natural light and better food than the British Airways lounge," John Walton writes.
