Several software tools claim to be able to help companies assess candidates' talent levels through online questionnaires and video games. Knack, for instance, has developed a game in which job seekers take on the role of a sushi server, clearing tables and waiting on customers while being timed. "It's early days for the technology but it clearly has upside and potential," said Hans Haringa, an executive at Royal Dutch Shell's GameChanger program.
