Registered dietitian Sheah Rarback writes that she often gets questions about which foods are fattening, whether a particular pill can help with weight loss and whether processed foods are all bad. Her replies: Calories are only part of the equation for weight loss, pills often do not have enough human research backing them up and some processed foods, such as pasteurized milk or frozen fruit, are healthy. "The amount of sodium, sweeteners, colorings and preservatives added to processed foods affects the nutrition of that item, not the word 'processed,' " Rarback writes.
