Greater motor-skills coordination, bigger indoor areas, accessibility of the preschool building from the playground and more afternoon hours spent at school were linked to higher levels of physical activity among preschool students, Danish researchers found. Also, they noted that boys were more likely than girls to participate in moderate and vigorous activities. Premature birth, rainy days and vegetation found on the playground were associated with less physical activity, according to the study in Pediatrics.
