Ryanair is eying more traffic from families by letting groups pool their luggage allowance. It is also targeting business fliers with a plan to sell more expensive but flexible tickets. "We need to segment our own marketplace. Now that we're no longer the Robin Hood, the challenger, we're the establishment, we need to do something differently," said CEO Michael O'Leary.
WhichAirline.com recently compared the costs of flying on discount European airlines. According to the study, Ryanair's fees make it more expensive overall than Pegasus Airlines, Wizz Air and Blue Air. Seven out of 20 airlines studied had average fares of less than 100 euros.
