Almost 40,000 pounds of chicken have been recalled by a Costco Wholesale store in South San Francisco, Calif., because of possible contamination with a salmonella strain, the USDA says. The move affects 300 chicken leg, salad and soup products and more than 8,700 Kirkland Signature Foster Farms rotisserie chickens. The USDA says the retailer "has already taken steps to contact every customer who purchased rotisserie chicken products." Meanwhile, Costco Wholesale Canada has recalled Kirkland Signature organic lean ground beef, citing possible E. coli contamination.
