Tunnel-boring machine Bertha continues drilling the Highway 99 tunnel on the Seattle waterfront, and has bored about 250 feet so far. The machine is expected to travel beneath the Alaskan Way Viaduct by early 2014 and chew through 35 feet of soil per day and finish the 1.7-mile dig by next year. "Things are continuing to progress well," said spokeswoman KaDeena Yerkan of the Washington State Department of Transportation.
