U.S. researchers who looked at more than 1,200 8- to 18-year-olds found that those who spent twice the amount of time playing organized sports than they spent playing for fun had a higher risk of getting injured. The odds of having injuries were also higher in athletes who were more engaged in just one sport, and those whose weekly hours of exercise exceeded their age, according to the study presented at the American Academy of Pediatrics meeting.
