U.K. researchers looked at more than 3.5 million residents near London's Heathrow airport and found that those living in areas with the highest levels of aircraft noise were 10% to 20% more likely to have a stroke, coronary heart disease and cardiovascular disease. A U.S. study showed that close proximity to airports was associated with higher admission rates for cardiovascular conditions in older people. Both studies were published in the British Medical Journal.
