A study of 3,503 caregivers found 17% reported high levels of caregiving strain and most logged fewer than 14 hours of care a week, Johns Hopkins University researchers reported in the American Journal of Epidemiology. Data showed caregivers were 18% less likely to die within six years compared with noncaregivers, and Leah Eskinazi of the Family Caregiver Alliance said people can find caregiving to be very rewarding and a way to give back to loved ones.
