University of Massachusetts researchers report that fitness applications such as Daily Burn, Livestrong, FitBit and Weight Watchers offer some good weight-loss strategies, including keeping a food diary, but they may not help people make permanent lifestyle changes. The study in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine compared 30 apps with 20 behavioral strategies and found 28 of the apps included 25% or less of the lifestyle recommendations that help people stick to weight-loss plans.
