A Baylor College of Medicine study published in the American Journal of Medicine found that Weight Watchers helped people lose an average of about 5% of their body weight, compared with a less than 1% loss for people given written materials on weight loss and allowed to diet on their own. Hayden Bosworth of Duke University, who reviewed the results, noted a high level of engagement among Weight Watchers users.
