Dollar General has trumped Wal-Mart Stores for lowest prices on products in 21 edible grocery, non-edible grocery, and health and beauty aid segments, edging out the large retailer by 12 cents, according to a survey by Kantar Retail. The survey shows a narrowing gap among prices and reveals that affluent shoppers make up the fastest-growing segment of dollar-store shoppers, Principal Analyst Mike Paglia says.
