More than two-thirds of smartphone owners say they plan to use their phones for holiday shopping, and about a third of those said they would be making purchases on their devices, according to a Deloitte survey. The study also found that mobile-equipped consumers, or omnichannel shoppers, intend to spend considerably more than those who shop only in stores, while overall spending for the holidays is expected to be up 12% from last year.
