A new survey on the federal E-Rate program and schools' broadband needs from the Consortium for School Networking finds that 93% of respondents said the current E-Rate funding formula does not meet their needs. The survey also finds a lack of confidence in the program, as 29% of those surveyed did not apply because they believed it would be insufficient. Districts say they are most interested in using the funds to expand bandwidth in schools and install wireless Internet access.
