According to a survey by The New York Times and Siena College, 60% of New York City residents support the casino referendum slated for Nov. 5. The referendum would allow up to seven casinos in the state, including four in upstate New York. "That is a strong margin of victory for the gambling amendment," said Steven A. Greenberg, a pollster for Siena College. "If support is 60% in New York City, I am hard pressed to see how it could fail statewide." Of city residents polled, 31% said they were "very likely" or "somewhat likely" to travel to the upstate casinos.
