Patients were 30% more likely to switch medications when their doctor used a smartphone in the exam room, and they were 80% more likely to switch if they used their own smartphone in the exam room, a Digitas Health survey of 2,000 smartphone owners found. Patients who used their smartphone in the exam room were twice as likely to ask for a brand-name drug, and 90% said they would use a mobile application recommended by a physician.
