A long, drawn-out shutdown of the federal government could push furloughed employees into the private sector and create a temporary glut of available IT talent, according to Michael Kirven, CEO of Mondo, an IT resourcing and recruiting firm. Kirven says that since government IT specialists often traded high pay in private industry for the security and perceived stability of the public sector, the current impasse is likely to prompt some to rethink the benefits of that trade-off.
