Veterinarians from the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine collaborated with the Sacramento Zoo to surgically treat a case of urinary tract stones in the zoo's 15-year-old male Sumatran tiger, Castro. "We are very happy with the way he handled the anesthesia and procedures, and he's up and recovering in his building," said the zoo's senior veterinarian Ray Wack, a professor at UC Davis. Castro has also been treated with chemotherapy for lymphoma.
