Pro athletes are pushing unhealthy foods in ads that most often reach children aged of 12 to 17, "a striking irony" considering they're among the most physically fit icons, according to a study by the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale. Athletes such as Peyton Manning, LeBron James and Serena Williams were tied to dozens of sports drinks, soft drinks, fast foods and other "energy-dense and nutrient-poor" products in 2010. These athletes "could do a lot of good to promote public health, but unfortunately they are promoting foods that are really unhealthy," said Marie Bragg, a Yale researcher and lead author of the study.
