Employers in the U.S. created 148,000 jobs in September, the Labor Department said, well below August's 193,000 and short of the 180,000 most analysts expected. The unemployment rate edged down to 7.2%, a five-year low, but most of the decline was because people left the labor market. Job creation was particularly weak in the health care and leisure sectors.
