Restaurant servers must ask patrons whether they plan to order food and get a "yes" before they can deliver alcoholic beverages to the table, according to guidelines approved by the state's liquor commissioners Tuesday. The ruling ends months of often contentious debate and clarified that posting a sign or making a menu available isn't sufficient to meet the requirements of a state law that says restaurant customers must order food with their beer, wine or cocktails.
