Enterprises are increasingly relying on public cloud providers for their data-storage needs, according to a report from Verizon. The report also found that revelations in May about the scope of a National Security Agency data-surveillance program have had little effect on overall adoption. According to Verizon's survey, the volume of data stored on Verizon's virtual machines grew 90% in 18 months -- a sign that companies are more comfortable with transferring vital data to third-party cloud servers.
