Strong demand for FiOS services drove wireline consumer revenue up 4% in the third quarter at Verizon Communications, the telecom reported today. FiOS TV grew by 135,000 customers compared with a year ago, while the broadband unit added 173,000 subscribers. Overall, Verizon outpaced analysts' estimates; revenue increased 4% and net income rose 40%. On the wireless side, revenue grew 7.2%, and the carrier added 927,000 contract subscribers.
