Older women who walked at a moderate pace for at least one hour each day or at least seven hours per week were 14% less likely to develop breast cancer compared with those who walked for three hours or less per week, according to a study involving 74,000 women ages 50 to 74. The study, published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention, also found that exercising more vigorously for at least seven hours a week was associated with about a 25% lower risk of breast cancer.
