Intel may be ready to turn over to Verizon Communications the unit that has been developing an online subscription video service, according to a published report that says discussions have reached advanced stages. There was no word on whether Intel would retain a role in the project, in which the chipmaker had hoped to start a branded service using an Intel set-top box. Intel Media struggled to complete affiliate deals with cable networks, a problem Verizon might be able to overcome with its FiOS TV relationships.
