Dutch researchers found nonmetastatic breast cancer patients who had diabetes were 23% less likely than those without diabetes to suffer cancer recurrence, and those in the oldest age group had a 33% reduced risk of relapse. However, patients with or without diabetes but who had other comorbidities showed worse overall survival compared with those who did not have comorbid conditions, researchers said. The results appear in the Annals of Oncology.
