On Wednesday, Japanese officials approved Finnair as an addition to the joint venture between British Airways and Japan Airlines. The airlines will be able to share revenue and organize flight schedules starting in spring 2014. All of the carriers are members of the oneworld alliance.
Japan Airlines will begin serving special Japanese cheeses to its first- and executive-class passengers on select international flights. An assortment of 16 cheeses will be offered from March through the next several months. "We are constantly striving to provide our customers with a refreshingly good experience whenever they fly with JAL," said certified cheese sommelier Yumi Yokoyama.
Experts say the two largest airlines in the U.S. are better matched in their longstanding rivalry following American Airlines' successful pursuit of Japan Airlines. A joint venture between American and JAL will narrow Delta's lead in Asia, the world's fastest-growing market for air travel.
