BlackBerry on Tuesday launched BBM Channels, a social network whose software will be preinstalled on select smartphones as part of its BBM messaging service in emerging markets under a partnership with phone-makers. BlackBerry said it will introduce an Android and iOS version of the Twitter-like service in the coming months. Also, in hopes of making easier work for developers, the company next year will allow some Android applications to work directly on BlackBerry devices without the need for developers to alter their software.
