Retail sales in Brazil rose a less-than-forecast 0.5% in September compared to the previous month and 4.1% over the same month last year, according to the national statistics agency. Purchases of personal and domestic items rose 2.4% while sales of appliances and furniture fell 0.2% after 0.5% and 2.5% rises in August and July, respectively.
