Orpyx Medical Technologies of Calgary, Alberta, has developed a wireless shoe insert that collects data on how diabetes patients exert pressure on their feet to help prevent ulcers that can lead to infection or even amputation. The SurroSense Rx system consists of a sensor insert, a wireless "shoe pod" data unit, a smart watch and access to an online tracking site. The device is available to U.S. consumers only through online sales.
