The relative lateness of Thanksgiving this year, which will coincide with the Hanukkah holiday, is forcing retailers of consumer electronics to push up their merchandising efforts in 2013, according to Shawn DuBravac, chief economist and director of research for the Consumer Electronics Association. Despite the shorter holiday shopping season, the CEA is forecasting a 2.6% increase in holiday spending on technology products, citing a survey in which 64% of U.S. adults said they plan to buy tech gifts this year, compared with 62% in 2012.
