The World Wildlife Fund has partnered with eight major consumer brand companies -- Coca-Cola, Danone, Nestle, H.J. Heinz Co., Nike, P&G, Unilever and Ford -- to form the Bioplastics Feedstock Alliance. The BFA will explore sustainable alternatives to petroleum-based products, such as bioplastics made from sugar cane, corn, bulrush and switchgrass. "This alliance will go a long way in ensuring responsible management of natural resources used to meet the growing demand for bioplastics," said WWF's Erin Simon.
