Panelists at the TWICE/CEA Ultra HD Conference in New York expressed optimism about consumer adoption of Ultra HD technology. Tamaryn Pratt of Quixel Research said 2013 is "a positioning year" with about 40,000 Ultra HD televisions being shipped. She predicts 500,000 Ultra HDTVs will be shipped next year and 2.5 million in 2016. A separate panel on retailing Ultra HD was similarly optimistic, with Tom Campbell of Video and Audio Center saying the technology will go "well beyond acceptance of HDTV."
