The proliferation of new technology in schools is highlighting the need for districts to have well-trained tech leaders who understand all aspects of the technology -- including how it will be used in teaching -- according to participants of a recent webinar. Data show that 20% of large school districts do not have a chief technology officer or equivalent position; however, the nonprofit Consortium of School Networking has created a certificate program to help tech leaders gain the skills needed to face challenges such as tight budgets and equal access to devices.
