U.S. online commerce over the holidays should pick up about 16% this year from 2012 to reach $55 billion, according to comScore, a similar prediction to Forrester Research's estimate of a 15% gain. The surge is driven largely by bargain hunting, and both figures outpace the overall holiday sales increase of 3.9% predicted by the National Retail Federation.
