Educators and administrators from several Whittier, Calif.-area school districts are meeting to design curricula for students in seventh through ninth grades that are based on the Common Core State Standards. The inter-district collaboration on the common core aims to help students as they transition among grades and into the future. "We're banding together to develop consistency, rigor and high expectations in order for students to graduate ready for college and careers, which is what CCSS is designed to do," high-school math teacher Stephanie Swan said.
