A group of students from an elementary school in Colorado recently learned real-world math applications by determining how best to spend $100 at a local grocery store. The Math Night event required students to shop for Thanksgiving Day meal items within their budget. "It's something that's part of their daily lives," kindergarten teacher Sarah Brusig said, adding, "Otherwise, in class it can be an abstract thing, so this shows them the possibilities of using those math skills."
