Weakness in the banking and commodity sectors sent European shares lower Tuesday, and U.S. stocks edged down as well as investors speculated anew over just when the U.S. Federal Reserve would begin tapering its bond-buying program. "The [U.S.] market is basically doing pretty good, considering that tapering is back on the table," said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Rockwell Global Capital.
